MODI GmbH based in Gummersbach has been developing and producing inspection systems and ID reading systems using camera technology for almost 15 years. Since 2005, the heart of all systems has been the patented ADOMO © technology. With this technology, the camera field of view is deflected over a 2-axis moving mirror within a few milliseconds. In this way even finding and evaluating very small features on large areas is possible.
The ADOMO technology has been used for years in the automotive sector, but is now used in all industries in the areas of traceability and track & trace.
With the foundation of industrial image processing in the form of the incoming goods scanner and the associated optical verification and registration of labels and codes, the MODI extended its business to the biometric sector. In order to draw a clear separation of business units, MODI renamed both sectors separately. Under MODI Trace you can find the traditional industrial image processing, under MODI Vision the new biometric area. With products such as the FaceBar, FaceScreen or the FaceBridge, the MODI Vision was able to position itself in the field of biometric security controls for airports, stadiums and banks with well-known customers.
The field of industrial image processing is used by customers in the field of electronics processing. The incoming goods scanner is used for the recording, registration, booking, comparison and traceability of electronic components, which are usually delivered on component rolls. This is the business area from which MODI GmbH comes. With the advancement of camera technology, the business grew larger and was expanded in the field of biometric face control.
In addition to the use in the field of ABC Gates and person identification in large halls or squares (Face in the crowd), the technology is also used by individual companies from a wide variety of areas to record employees’ working hours fully automatically. For example, no manual registration in the form of RFID keys or stamp cards is necessary. Employees walk through the entrance in the normal way and are recorded there by the FaceBar and registered in the system with their arrival time. Likewise, the employees are checked out. Cigarette breaks can also be registered.
MODI GmbH has been active on the international market for many years and was thus able to establish some business relationships. Thanks to internal product optimization and customer requirements, MODI GmbH was able to grow and position itself as the market leader in the relabeling market.
